We have all had someone in our lives who has fallen victim to a home business "scam". They hand over thousands of dollars, and instead of doing what the training tells them, they do what the sales brochure told them. They sleep, buy expensive things (and go into debt), and "let the system do the work". Think about this for a second, though. If you could really do absolutely nothing, and make millions of dollars - wouldn't some of the richest men and women in the world be doing it? Really, if it took absolutely no effort, just the investment, don't you think all of the oil barons and computer tycoons would be buying into the idea?

Trust me; you won't see Bill Gates joining Herbalife anytime soon. The main reason most people fail in their attempts with home business opportunities is because they see it as their "ticket to freedom", with "no effort". They buy into the dream without first seeing the reality, and then when reality bites them, they are unprepared and give up.

You are smarter than that. I know this, because you are reading this article. There may be one or two people out there who want to know how to fail with a home business opportunity so that they can do it too, but most likely you are here because you want to succeed, and you want to know what it takes. So let me tell you.

First, you have to stop believing that it will happen overnight. Nothing happens overnight. Despite what all of the flashy sales materials would have you believe, you cannot get rich just by buying into a home business opportunity. You have to follow the number one principle of making money - do what no one else wants to do. And in this case, that means WORK!

Second, you must take this seriously. Sure, some people have made millions doing something "fun". But if you ask them, 99% of people who portray their success as "overnight" and "effortless" put a lot of effort and many nights into making things appear that way. You have to take your home business seriously, just like your job. After all, this is your future!

Third, and perhaps most importantly, you have to get out of the job mentality. Sure, you could get paid $8/hr at McDonalds doing harder, more physical labor. But while you're doing it, you're making someone else rich. Stop thinking in terms of hours, and start thinking in terms of time invested. You invest time, you will see a return. You invest money that will speed up and multiply the return you get on your time. It is that simple.

The key to seeing success with a home based business opportunity is to treat it like a business. You won't see most business owners sitting around, doing nothing, waiting for customers. And if it looks like they are, chances are they have employees doing that work for them. Employees that they invested time in hiring, and are investing money in keeping.
